Port Renfrew Forest Parks in Port Renfrew BC
There are two fresh-water lakes in Port Renfrew, ideal for swimming and fishing. Both lakes are contained within well-maintained campgrounds administered by the BC Forest Service.
Fairy Lake:
This fresh water lake and beach are located just five kilometres northeast of Port Renfrew, accessible from Harris Creek Mainline, a rough gravel logging road. Fairy Lake is a popular summer destination for locals and visitors to swim and fish. The lake allows for car-top boat launches, but for non-motorized boats only. A tiny bonsai fir tree grows atop a waterlogged tree trunk in the middle lake – a truly unique, unusual sight. The area features many hiking trails, mountain bike trails, as well as many other outdoor activities.
Both Cutthroat trout and sea run Dolly Varden trout inhabit and are stocked in the lake, making for wonderful freshwater fishing opportunities. Fishermen have even reported catching cutthroat trout as big as 18 inches.

Lizard Lake:
Located about 18 kilometres northeast of Port Renfrew, close to Fairy Lake, on the Harris Creek Mainline logging road. Be sure to keep an eye out for the resident little lizards, newts.
A 100 ft. dock extends over the lake, and makes swimming and fishing even more fun on hot summer days. The lake offers excellent fishing for rainbow trout and while motorized boats are not allowed, row boats and canoes are a great way to explore the lake.
A 1.5 kilometre nature trail circles the lake and takes about 35 minutes to walk – a great way to work up a sweat and then take a refreshing dip in the cool lake.
Area: 22 acres
