Whale Watching with Sooke Coastal Explorations
Today I took out a full boat of keen whale watchers hoping to witness the iconic symbol of Vancouver Island, if not BC.. the Killer Whale, or properly known as the Orca.
We left a very foggy Sooke Harbour heading towards the San Juan Islands of far. The last little bit, Sooke Coastal Explorations has had to head over to the US waters in pursuit of these gorgeous mammals as the feeding over there seems to be better for Salmon these days. Not every day mind you, but the last little while.
Hopefully with these Sockeye in bloom out here it brings the superpod out this way.
Anyway, we had an AMAZING trip with “L-POD” today, even in the fog. I would say one of the best I’ve driven a group of people out to see?
Conditions and visibility played a HUGE part in that because we were trying to keep our needed 100 yards off, but the animals turned and we found ourselves surrounded by them.
Quickly turning the engines off, all electronics off, we witnessed once of the best sights BC has to offer, in my opinion.
I hope you enjoy this short video of whales surrounding us.
