A Day at Mystic Beach
I had forgotten how beautiful the hike to Mystic Beach is. It wasn’t as long or onerous as I had built it up to be. It took us 45 minutes to hike in. We even passed a lady in her 70s making her way back from the beach. I felt a little foolish for somehow convincing myself that it would be too challenging for my slightly out-of-shape frame. Yes, we worked up a bit of a sweat and we were a little out of breath, but it was all worth it when we came up over that last hill and unto the breathtaking views of the Juan de Fuca Strait. The temperature was warm on the sheltered beach. Sun out. Breeze comfortable. Water seeped, and in places flowed, from the steep cliff walls. The mixture of rocky and sandy beach made for some great photo opportunities; especially with the waves crashing off the larger boulders. It was a great way to spend the afternoon, and what living on the west coast is all about! Check out the video.
