April 8, 2009 – Awareness Film Night presents “Under Our Skin”

A dramatic tale of microbes, medicine and money that investigates the untold story of Lyme disease.

This 2008 film is a powerful and often terrifying look at Lyme disease and the personal stories of those whose lives have been affected and nearly destroyed by being undiagnosed or misdiagnosed with this disease.

Why is this disease such a hot potato?  This screening will be a benefit for Nicole Bottles, an East Sooke teenager who has had to go to Connecticut for treatment after having her Lyme disease undiagnosed by 8 doctors even though she had 28 of the 38 symptoms characteristic of the disease.

The screening will be attended by Nicole’s father Dave Bottles and by Saanich MLA David Cubberly, who has been a strong advocate for Lyme sufferers.

The film will be shown at the Edward Milne community School, 6218 Sooke Rd. in Sooke.

Showtime is at 7 p.m.
Admission is by donation to Nicole Bottles.
